As we reach the halfway point of the year, it’s a great time to look back and celebrate the achievements of Community 247. The initiatives we’ve launched at Marian House Independence Place are making a noticeable impact in our community, and we have exciting plans for the months ahead.
Workshop Series Updates
The year kicked off with an impactful workshop led by Seante Hatcher, owner of Build Wealth Esteem. Seante focused on financial literacy and goal-setting, equipping participants with valuable tools. For example, she introduced budgeting techniques that can help individuals reduce unnecessary expenses and setting savings goals.
Next, we had the honor of hosting Donna Bruce from Donna Bruce Unlimited. Donna's insights on healing from trauma, drawn from her experience and book, inspired participants to reflect on their own journeys. One participant noted that Donna’s message empowered her to take proactive steps in her healing process, reinforcing the idea that personal growth is possible.
We also welcomed Angela Beard Hardy from Simple Wellness Day Spa. Angela brought a fresh perspective on holistic health and wellness, guiding participants through a practical self-care workshop.
Gen Win Youth Activities
With summer in full swing, we proudly launched our Gen Win Youth activities. These engaging arts and crafts sessions are tailored for the children at Marian House Independence Place. We are eager to continue these sessions into the fall, aiming to not only boost creativity but also provide a safe space for emotional expression.
While celebrating these accomplishments, we recognize the importance of evaluating our organizational structure. We are dedicated to ongoing professional growth to ensure our programs effectively meet community needs.
Continuous Learning and Growth
This past winter, our founder Kelli Johnson participated in a Mental Health First Aid training course. This program expanded her understanding of mental health challenges, allowing her to support others more effectively. Additionally, Kelli is currently enrolled in social work classes, which are deepening her knowledge of community dynamics, human behavior, and nonprofit management.
The skills she's acquiring will significantly advance Community 247’s mission. Continuous learning is crucial for our workshops and initiatives. I am eager to implement these insights, which can lead to better outcomes for our community members.
Looking Ahead
Reflecting on our journey thus far, it is encouraging to see how far Community 247 has come this year. Our workshops and youth activities have fostered a stronger sense of community, creating an atmosphere of growth, healing, and empowerment. We are excited to continue our current endeavors and expand our efforts to support personal and professional development within our organization.
Together, we are building a brighter future for everyone we serve. We look forward to achieving more incredible milestones in the months to come.
