Our Story

Community 247, founded in 2016, operates under the belief that “all mothers have the same 24 hours, 7 days a week….your community makes a difference.” Recognizing the importance of connection for those facing life challenges, Community 247 offered support and resources for single and co-parenting mothers through curated content and events under the name Mama Bear’s Zen, fostering discussions on topics like self-love and relationships.

In January 2021, amid the global pandemic, Founder Kelli Johnson and her daughter were displaced by a fire. This event reignited her commitment to Community 247's mission of supporting mothers in overcoming difficulties. Now a 501c3 non-profit, Community 247 provides affordable housing for women and children transitioning from temporary shelters in Baltimore. Partnering with social service, faith-based, and community organizations, Community 247 connects women and families with essential resources and support.
