About Us

Community 247 was initially founded in 2016 under the premise that “all mothers have the same 24 hours, 7 days a week….your community makes a difference.” Understanding how helpful it is for people going through life issues to find a space where they can build connections with others who understand exactly what they’re experiencing, Community 247 provided fellowship and resources for mothers - specifically single and co-parenting mothers - through curated content and a series of events under the name Mama Bear’s Zen which brought together women of all walks of life, ages and stages to discuss topics of interests including self-love and relationships. 

 

Fast forward to January 2021, almost a year into the global Coronavirus pandemic, Kelli Johnson, Community 247's Founder, was displaced from her condo along with her daughter due to a fire. The experience re-ignited a passion for Community 247 to continue to create supportive communities for mothers who are overcoming difficulties.  Community 247, a 501c3 non-profit organization, includes affordable housing for women and children transitioning out of temporary shelter facilities in the Baltimore area.  Through partnerships with social service, faith-based, community and non-profit organizations, Community 247 provides referrals to resources and support to help women and families.
